The Allen-Bradley 150-B180NBD smart motor controller is a solid-state smart motor starter in the SMC Dialog series of smart motor controllers which provide microprocessor starting for 3-phase induction motors. This motor controller, like every open enclosure type of motor controller in the SMC Dialog series, comes with a modularly designed control module, it is mounted on a heatsink mounted power module, and it offers 4 standard starting modes (the Current Limit, Dual Ramp, Soft Start, and the Full Voltage Start) within a single package. The 150-B180NBD has 3-phase power in the 200 to 460 Volts AC voltage class, with a nominal current rating of 180 Amps, and it is designed for 5 to 150 Horsepower rated applications. Its control module has a self-tuning control circuit that is designed to accept 100 to 240 Volts AC of control power, and it also has an SCR circuit with a snubber network for preventing false SCR firing. It has a heatsink mounted power module with 200 to 480 Volts AC operating voltage and with a peak repetitive inverse voltage of 1400 Volts AC.

The 150-B180NBD offers adjustable acceleration ramp time from 0 to 30 seconds, with an adjustable torque setting from 0 to 90% of the locked rotor torque, and a current limiting adjustable from 50 to 600% of the rated motor’s full load current. The 150-B180NBD, like every SMC Dialog controller, can be wired without an isolation contactor, and it has 2 and 3-wire control to accommodate a wide variety of applications. It has 3 programmable auxiliary contacts programmed for normal, up to speed, or fault situations. The 150-B180NBD has built-in protection from voltage unbalance, phase reversal, overload, under load, over temperature, stall, over voltage, and under voltage situations, and it provides a power factor, phase-to-phase protection, and 3-phase line current monitoring by using its LCD. It has an ambient operating temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius (32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit), within a 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity range, and it is designed for installation at an elevation of up to 2000 meters. The 150-B180NBD has a net shipping weight of 25 kilograms, with aggregate mounting dimensions of 563 x 273 x 294 millimeters, and it is c-UL-us, CSA, CE, and CCC certified.
