The 150-B97NBR controller is a motor controller that has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It is part of the Allen-Bradley SMC Dialog Plus family of motor controllers which provide the following modes of operation: the full voltage start, dual ramp start, current limit start, and the soft start with the selectable kickstart. The soft start method has the most general applications. During the soft start mode, the motor torque is raised to a level which is between 0 and 90% of the rotor torque and the voltage applied to the motor is increased gradually during the ramp time which can be set from 0 to 30 seconds. During the soft start with the selectable kickstart, a kick of 550% of the full load current rating is applied to the motor which helps the motor to come up to speed for loads which need a boost.
The current limit start mode is used when it is necessary to limit the peak starting current in the 150-B97NBR controller. The dual ramp start is useful in applications that have varying loads and therefore varying torque requirements. The full voltage start mode is used when an application requires across-the-line starting. The 150-B97NBR controller comes in an open enclosure and it requires an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50 degrees Celsius for optimal operation. The rated output current is 97 Amps and the rated output power range is from 5 to 75 Horsepower when the input voltage is 460 Volts AC (three-phase, at 50 to 60 Hertz). The complete range of input voltages supported by the 150-B97NBR controller is from 200 to 460 Volts AC. The control voltage rating for the 150-B97NBR controller is 24 Volts AC and 24 Volts DC.
