The 40382-811-01 controller is an SMC Dialog Plus controller that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The device is an SMC Dialog Plus controller that offers a full range of starting options like the soft start with selectable kick start, current limit start with selectable kick start, dual ramp start, and the full voltage start. The SMC Dialog Plus controller operates in 3-phase squirrel cage motors that are rated at 1 to 1000 Amps and 200 to 480 Volts AC or 200 to 600 Volts AC at 50 to 60 Hertz. Depending on the catalog number, this controller will accept a control power input rating of either 100 to 240 Volts AC or 24 Volts AC/DC. If the control power input option is 100 to 240 Volts AC, the controller’s microprocessor will self-adjust to the input control voltage level. The soft start mode on this controller is the start mode that has the most general applications.

The 40382-811-01 controller is user-adjustable from 0 to 90 percent of the locked rotor torque. The acceleration ramp time is user-adjustable from 0 to 30 seconds. The 40382-811-01 controller’s selectable kick start mode is also user-adjustable from 0 to 2.0 seconds. The current limit start feature provides a fixed reduced voltage start and it is used when the controller needs to limit the maximum starting current. The current limit level is user-adjustable from 50 to 60 percent of the motor’s full load current rating, and the current limit time is also user-adjustable from 0 to 30 seconds. The output voltage automatically switches to the full voltage if the 40382-811-01 SMC Dialog Plus controller senses that the motor has gotten fully up to speed during the current limit starting mode. The full voltage start mode is used for applications requiring across-the-line starting and the output voltage will reach the full voltage level within 15 seconds.
