The Allen-Bradley 40888-490-01-B1FX SMC Dialog Plus controller is a pump control module for the Bulletin 150 SMC Dialog Plus controllers. The SMC Dialog Plus series offers controllers with 4 standard starting modes which include the soft start with selectable kick start, current limit start with selectable kick start, dual ramp start, and the full voltage start. In addition to the 4 standard starting modes, the SMC Dialog Plus controllers also feature expanded protective and diagnostics capabilities that include the energy saver, phase rebalance, electronic overload protection, stall protection, jam detection, over-temperature protection, and metering features. The Allen-Bradley 40888-490-01-B1FX module, like every SMC Dialog Plus module, features a built-in serial interface port called the “SCANport” which provides a connection point for the Bulletin 1201 human-machine interface modules and the Bulletin 1203 communication modules. This provides the SMC Dialog Plus controllers with Remote I/O, DeviceNet, RS-232/422/485 (DF1 protocol), DH-485, and ControlNet communication capabilities.

The 40888-490-01-B1FX SMC Dialog Plus module is programmed via a built-in keypad and a 2-line by 16-character backlit LCD or with a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) module that can be connected via the SCANport serial interface port. It comes with 3 programmable standard hard contact outputs (2 Form C contacts and 1 relay contact) that are programmable for normal/up to speed control and normal/fault control. The 40888-490-01-B1FX module also comes with the pump control option that is suitable for pump control applications. This option reduces surges during the starting and stopping of a centrifugal pump by smoothly accelerating and decelerating the motor. The 40888-490-01-B1FX module has a built-in microprocessor that helps analyze the motor profile and then generates commands that control the system and reduce the possibility of a surge in the system. It accepts 120 to 240 Volts AC (single-phase) control power input and it has 40 Volt-Amps (VA) power requirements.
