The Allen-Bradley 40888-490-01-B2FX SMC Dialog Plus controller is a DC-powered pump control module from the Bulletin 150 SMC controller family. The 40888-490-01-B2FX controller is rated for 24 Volts DC and it is designed for all SMC Dialog Plus controller ratings. The SMC Dialog Plus controllers have 4 standard motor operating modes in addition to built-in protection, diagnostics, and programming capabilities. The standard starting modes include the current limit start, dual ramp start, soft start, and the full voltage start. In the soft start mode, the motor is given a user-adjustable initial torque setting from 0 to 90% of the locked rotor torque, and the output voltage can be increased over an adjustable acceleration ramp time range of 0 to 30 seconds. The current limit start mode is used to limit the maximum starting current, and the current limit setting is adjustable from 50 to 600% of the full motor current over an adjustable limit time of 0 to 30 seconds. The 40888-490-01-B2FX controller also has a pump control option, which reduces surges during the starting and stopping processes in centrifugal pump applications by seamlessly accelerating and decelerating the motor.
The Allen-Bradley 40888-490-01-B2FX SMC Dialog Plus DC pump control module, like all the SMC Dialog Plus modules, features an energy saver function which enables the controller to continuously monitor the motor load with its internal feedback circuitry in applications with light motor loads. The 40888-490-01-B2FX controller also has built-in protection and diagnostic capabilities that include the phase rebalance, overload protection, over-temperature protection, and jam detection features. The 40888-490-01-B2FX pump control module offers multiple communication and programming options via a built-in serial SCANport port that allows for it to make connections to the Allen-Bradley Bulletin 1203 communication modules and the Bulletin 1201 human-machine interface modules (HMIs).
