The Allen-Bradley 40888-490-01-S2FX standard control module is a replacement control module for the Allen-Bradley SMC Dialog Plus smart motor controllers with the standard options. This control module is designed for all SMC Dialog Plus controller ratings. The 40888-490-01-S2FX control module accepts 24 Volts AC/DC control power input and it has a maximum heat dissipation rating of 660 Watts. Like all SMC Dialog Plus controllers, the 40888-490-01-S2FX control module can be programmed and configured using either the built-in keypad and 2-line by 16-character LCD or an optional Bulletin 1201 human-machine interface module (the 1201-DMA, -HAP, -HJP, -HA1, - HA2, or -HJ2). It also supports a wide variety of industrial communication options like the DH-485 or RS-232/422/485 (DF-1), Remote I/O, DeviceNet, Flex I/O, and the SLC Communication Module options via a built-in SCANport serial port.
The 40888-490-01-S2FX control module features built-in diagnostic functions and features designed to enable smooth and seamless operation. The built-in diagnostic and protective features include over-temperature detection via factory-installed internal thermistors, the excessive starts per hour function, underload protection via a programmable underload trip that is programmable from 0 to 99% of the programmed FLA, line faults/shorted SCR protection, open gate fault detection, jam detection, stall protection, overload protection via an integral complex overload algorithm, an energy saver, and a phase rebalance capability. The 40888-490-01-S2FX control module also offers the users 4 standard starting modes for different application needs. These start modes include the general-purpose soft start mode with an acceleration ramp time of 0 to 30 seconds, the current limit start mode with a user-adjustable limit level of 5 to 600% of the FLA, the dual ramp start mode with separately adjustable ramp times and initial torque settings, and the full voltage start mode that is suitable for applications requiring across-the-line starting.
