The 2098-DSD-030X is an Ultra 3000 digital Servo drive from Allen-Bradley. This device is used to control a partner servo motor to implement the desired motion and position control. This is compatible for use with Servo motors such as MP-Series, 1326AB, F-, H-, N-, and Y-Series. It supports interfacing with SERCOS enabled devices such as ControlLogix/ SoftLogix Platforms.

The 2098-DSD-030X is enabled when supplied with 100-240VAC rms, Single-phase along an input frequency of 47-63 Hz while the main AC input current is 28 Amperes and 50 Amperes for Maximum inrush. For auxiliary circuit, the nominal input current for 115VACrms is 1.0 Ampere, 0.5 Ampere for 230VACrms; 47 Amperes for 115VAC(0-pk) maximum inrush and 95 Amperes for 230VAC(0-pk) maximum inrush. This servo drive delivers an output current of Continuous output current (0-pk) of 15 A; Intermittent output current (0-pk) of 30 A; Continuous power output @ 115VAC of 1.5 kW and 3 kW for 230VAC. It has Bus capacitance of 2820 μF; Internal shunt resistance of 35 Ω; Shunt on bus voltage of 420V dc; Shunt off bus voltage of 402V dc and Bus overvoltage of 452V dc.

This servo drive, being part of the Ultra 3000 implements control via 3-Phase Sinusoidal, Space Vector Modulated (SVM) commutation with current regulator of Digital PI with update rate of 125 μs; Velocity Regulator digital PID with update rate of 250 μs; Position Regulator digital PID with update rate of 1 ms. The drive’s Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is 4 or 8 kHz, space vector modulation with velocity loop bandwidth of 300 Hz.

The drive is designed with an internal shunt, with a rating of 420V DC ON and 402V DC OFF and an internal resistance of 35 Ohms, with 4.5kW shunt power output. The drive requires a 30 Ohms (-0/+5%) External shunt with a power rating of 6kW. The 2098-DSD-030X has a 3kW output power at 230V AC, with an energy absorption capability of 117 Joules. Its internal circuitry utilizes the 250V AC FNQ-R-30 (Class CC) and LPJ-30SP (Class J) fuse for circuit protection and when operational, it dissipates 150W (dissipative shunt) heat. The drive has a three-phase sinusoidal commutation, with a Space Vector Modulation (SVM) of 4 or 8 kHz PWM frequency and it employs a digital PID with 250 microseconds update rate for velocity control. The 2098-DSD-030X has 8 current sinking 12-24V DC optically isolated digital inputs with 4 current sourcing outputs which are optically-isolated, and 1 Normally-Open (N.O.) relay output. The drive communicates through the RS-232/RS-422/RS-485 port with 1200-38400 baud rates selectable baud rates and uses an Incremental, Absolute, Sine/Cosine, and Intelligent motor feedback encoders with input frequencies of 100 kHz (Sine/Cosine Input), and 2.5 MHz (TTL Input) per channel. The 2098-DSD-030X’s operational temperature range falls within 0-55° C around a 5-95% non-condensing relative humidity condition it can be installed at an altitude of 1500m without de-rating. The 2098-DSD-030X weighs a total of 6.2kg (13.6lbs) and it has dimensions of 243.84mm x 50.8mm x 91.44mm (9.6in x 2.0in x 3.6in).
