The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-005 drive is an intelligent positioning drive from the Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation Ultra 3000-5000 series. The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-005 is part of the Ultra5000 Intelligent Positioning Drives. It comes with a single-phase 100-240V AC input voltage and 2.5A continuous output current with 7.5A output peak current. It has an AC input frequency of 47 - 63 Hz, with a nominal input current of 5 A rms. It has 51 Joules energy absorption capability and 0.5 kW continuous power output at 230V AC input. The 2098-IPD-005 Intelligent Positioning Drive provides 28-pin CN1A and 14-pin CN1B signal connections at its front panel. These require double-row, pluggable, spring-clamp connectors with 3.5mm spacing (shipped with the drive). Additional standard high-density D-shell signal connectors include the 15-pin CN2 for motor feedback, 9-pin CN3A as a main serial port, and CN3B as an auxiliary serial port. The 2098-IPD-005 Ultra5000 Drive ships with one installation manual (publication 2098-IN001), one screwdriver, two I/O connector plugs – 28-pin CN1A and 14-pin CN1B, and one clear plastic terminal strip cover. Do not discard the plastic cover. This can be installed on the power terminal strip to provide a physical barrier and protection. Classified as an IEC controlgear, this drive must be mounted –housed within an enclosure that meets IEC60529 electrical requirements. Maintain minimum clearances of 0.5 inch on sides and 2 inches on top and bottom for easy module access, proper cable bend radius, and enough airflow.
