The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-020-DN drive is an Ultra5000 series intelligent positioning drive. The drive is rated for 240 Volts AC input and 2 kilowatts of output and it includes a DeviceNet communication interface. The range of supported AC input voltages for the 2098-IPD-020-DN drive is from 100 to 240 Volts AC RMS (single-phase). The input line frequency can vary from 47 to 63 Hertz. The nominal AC input current is 18 Amps RMS and the maximum inrush current at 240 Volts AC input is 100 Amps (0 to peak). The peak output current is 30 Amps (0 to peak) and the continuous output current is 10 Amps (0 to peak). The energy absorption capability of the 2098-IPD-020-DN drive at 115 Volts AC input is 125 joules and at 230 Volts AC input, it is 51 joules. The continuous power input is 1 kilowatt at 115 Volts AC input and 2 kilowatts at 230 Volts AC input. The weight of the 2098-IPD-020-DN drive is 5.3 pounds. The working temperature range is from 0 to 55 degrees Celsius. The storage temperature range is from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity in the environment where the drive is installed should be within a range of 5% to 90%. The drive output derates 3% for every 300 meters above the 1500 meters altitude limit, and therefore the installation of the drive at altitudes that exceed 1500 meters should be avoided when possible. The vibration rating for the 2098-IPD-020-DN drive is 0.015 inches maximum displacement at 2 G peak (10 to 2000 Hertz). The drive shock rating is 15 g for a maximum of 11 milliseconds.
The Allen-Bradley 2098-IPD-020-DN is a microprocessor based Intelligent Positioning Drive (IPD) that is part of the Ultra 5000 IPD product family. This drive is an electronically operated device and comes with a highly programmable and configurable memory, allowing it to function according to the plant requirements. This Positioning drive is mainly composed of two (2) stages of electronic circuit with the provision of inserting up to two (2) additional option cards.
The 1st stage of this IPD drive is the I/O circuitry, which is mainly used to interface with available signals such as discrete inputs, discrete outputs, auxilliary encoder inputs, motor encoder outputs, motor encoder, analog inputs, analog outputs, bus voltage inputs, current inputs and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) outputs.
The 2nd stage circuitry is the processor card which contains the 512K bytes x 8 Low speed flash memory; It also has 256K bytes x 32 System Flash memory; 128K bytes x 32 High-speed Random Access Memory (RAM) and the 64K bytes x 8 non-volatile SRAM. The processor card also hosts the two (2) channel serial interfaces, 7-segment display, Rotary DIP switches for settings drive addresses and other configuration and the TMS320C32 DSP.
The 2098-IPD-020-DN energizes when wired to an input supply voltage of 100-240 Volts AC rms, 1-phase, along an input frequency of 47-63 Hertz. This drive delivers continuous output power of 1.0 Kilowatt @ 115 Volts AC and 2.0 Kilowatts @ 230 Volts AC. The drive’s current ratings include output peak current of 30 Amperes and continuous output current of 10 Amperes. This drive has energy absorption capability of 125 Joules @ 115 Volts AC and 51 Joules @ 230 Volts AC.
