The 2098-IPD-HV220 drive is an intelligent positioning drive. It has been designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation in the Ultra 5000 series to handle a variety of positioning applications for industrial motors. The 2098-IPD-HV220 intelligent positioning drive supports passive shunt installation in certain applications and it can be protected with mains input fuses. The mains input fuses for this drive must be dual element time delay fuses that are rated for 35 Amps. The 2098-IPD-HV220 intelligent positioning drive operates with 230 to 480 Volts AC RMS input voltage at 47 to 63 Hertz frequency.

This High Voltage (Ultra5000) Intelligent Positioning Drive by Allen Bradley can be programmed fully, is high-performance, and is a servo drive with a modern Digital Signal Processing (DSP) based power section. With ANSI C programmed motion commands, the 2098-IPD-HV220 has an optimized design and high-speed position capturing abilities with a latency less that 1.0μs.

The 2098-IPD-HV220 has a continuous power output of 22 kW at 480 Volts AC, at an approximated weight of 32 pounds and dimensions of 9.00 x 15.43 x 14.28 inches. Its 16 optically isolated inputs, 7 optically isolated outputs and 1 normally open relay output provide substantial connections for this module, which additionally requires a 230 to 480 Volt Root Means Square (RMS) three-phase AC input voltage, a 28 A nominal (RMS) AC input current, and an AC input frequency of 47 to 63 Hertz. It has Peak and Continuous output currents of  66.5A and 33.2A respectively for RMS value, and 47A and 94A respectively for 0-peak value.

With a  1880µF Bus capacitance, a 20Ω internal shunt resistance, and 810 Volt DC Bus overvoltage, it is a flexible and powerful drive with a maximum power dissipation of 600 Watts and a dissipative shunt.

The 2098-IPD-HV220 has an internal memory system consisting of 512 Kb of flash memory and 23 Kb of non-volatile SRAM for storage. This drive has two RS-485, RS-232, or RS-422 serial ports for communication with communication rates of 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, and 38400 bps. Its intended use is in an industrial environment, under a 0 to 55 degree Celsius operating temperature (32 to 131 degrees Fahrenheit) and a non condensing relative humidity of 5% to 95%.
