Allen Bradley 871D Proximity Sensors

Allen-Bradley 871D proximity sensors can be used in automation systems as sensors for different objects that are handled or manufactured by the system during operation. Inductive 871D sensors operate by generating electromagnetic fields and detecting eddy current losses when certain objects enter the electromagnetic fields. The objects they detect can be ferrous or nonferrous metal objects. The sensors support different scanning ranges for metal objects that are different shapes and sizes and for metal objects that are made from different metals. The 871D proximity sensors can detect flat objects more easily than rounded objects, and they can detect mild steel objects more easily than objects made of other metals. The 871D proximity sensors can be connected in a series with a load in some applications.

Many of the 871D series sensors have IP67-rated enclosures. The 871D series includes inductive, power clamp, and gripper-style sensors. The inductive sensors support reverse polarity and short-circuit protection. The power clamp and gripper-style sensors support transient noise, false pulse, overload, and short-circuit protection. The inductive sensors in the 871D series can be 2-wire AC/DC-powered sensors or 4-wire DC-powered sensors. The AC/DC-powered inductive sensors operate at 20 to 250V AC/DC or 20 to 300V DC and the DC-powered inductive sensors operate at 10 to 30V DC. The inductive sensors all have normally open outputs, and the 4-wire DC-powered sensors can support PNP or NPN outputs. The inductive 871D sensors also support maximum operating pressure ratings of 3000 PSI. The power clamp and gripper-style 871D sensors can be DC-powered or AC/DC-powered. The DC-powered power clamp and gripper-style sensors operate at 10 to 30V DC, and the AC/DC-powered power clamp and gripper-style sensors operate at 20 to 150V AC/DC. The power clamp and gripper-style 871D sensors come with M12 4-pin micro quick disconnect connectors (DC-powered sensors) or AC 5-pin micro quick disconnect connectors (AC/DC-powered sensors). All of the 871D sensor models operate at -25 to 70 degrees Celsius or -13 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit.
