|

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation MPM-B1651F-2J72AA servo motor is a brushless servo motor from the MPM Servo Motors series. It is also a medium-inertia type of servo motor and it comes with 1 magnet stack. The MPM-B1651F-2J72AA brushless servo motor does not have an encoder for feedback like most of the MPM series servo motors. Instead, it comes with a resolver device for its feedback. The MPM-B1651F-2J72AA brushless servo motor operates at a rated base speed of 3000 RPM and it has an IP 65 environmental protection rating without a shaft seal.

The MPM-B1651F-2J72AA is an MP-series rotary servo motor meant for use with Kinetix 5700, 6200 and 5500 motors. The MPM-B1651F-2J72AA has a base speed of 3000 revolutions per minute. The operating voltage of the motor is rated at 460 Volts AC, although it also accommodates any power supply in the 400 volts category. The motor also features Type FF free mounting holes. Also, the MPM-B1651F-2J72AA has a four-pole resolver and a keyed shaft extension. Apart from a single magnet stack, the servo motor has a SpeedTEC connector (DIN) for quick cable connections. The MPM-B1651F-2J72AA does not have a mechanism to hold the motor shaft at zero revolutions per minute. The medium inertia motor fits in a 6.5 inches frame. A proper cabling through the DIN connectors should for a drip loop with the cables entering the connectors from beneath the motor. To help the lifespan for the MPM-B1651F-2J72AA and other motors in the MP-series, periodic maintenance should be done to replace worn out components.  The MPM-B1651F-2J72AA is rated to be operated at a relative humidity not exceeding 95%. When the motor is used in environments with fluids and fine dust, an extra seal should be fitted on the motor shaft close to the front bearing of the MPM-B1651F-2J72AA servo motor.

For firm attachment of the cables at the DIN connector, threaded cable plugs (M4) can be used, but an O-ring has to be incorporated to ensure maximum environmental rating. To ensure the correct alignment of the cables during connection, the connector plugs have either a flat surface or a tab to show the correct alignment direction. When using the Speed TEC DINs, one-quarter of a revolution is required to correctly fix the cable plugs and it is indicated by an opening between 0.04 and 0.16 inches in size between the plug and the connector. Excessive force should be avoided when fitting the cable connector and the other connector. The two should naturally match up.
