About 1203-GU6

The 1203-GU6 is an Enhanced DeviceNet communication module manufactured by Allen-Bradley that is utilized to establish link between SCANport communication enabled devices and DeviceNet network or devices as well. The module converts or interprets DeviceNet messages to SCANport language or message that may be used by the product as information or operational data and parameter.

The Enhanced DeviceNet module has Two (2) ports found on the front panel of the module that are intended for SCANport and DeviceNet connection. The SCANport terminal is designed with an 8-Pin female mini-DIN connector while the DeviceNet port is a 5-Pin or 10-Pin connector that is supplied with the module.

This module is installed to a DIN rail and powered by an external voltage of 24VDC. This module has a physical dimension of 1.8" W x 3.0" H x 5.0" D or 4.57 cm x 7.62 cm x 12.7 cm. Provide clearance when installing this module to allow natural air flow and wiring activities.

Supported devices of this module must have a SCANport communication port. These devices include

1305 AC MICRO Drive, 1336 IMPACT Drive, 1336 PLUS AC Drive, 1336 PLUS II Drive, 1336 FORCE Drive, 1394 AC Multi-Axis Motion Control System, SMC Dialog Plus, SMP-3 Smart Motor Protector, 1397 Digital DC Drive, and 1557 Medium Voltage Drive.

This module support firmware upgrade using Flash Firmware upgrade Tools that is downloadable from Allen-Bradley website. By updating the firmware, enhancement of functionalities and fixes to known anomalies may be introduced to the communication module. It also supports Change of State (COS) function to optimize the data update of the module by reporting only new data.

The 1203-GU6 communications module by Allen-Bradley is a SCANport communications module that can be used as a communication interface device on multiple Allen-Bradley drives. It should only be installed, configured, tested, and repaired by technicians who are experts with SCANport devices. All power should be disconnected from the SCANport drive before the 1203-GU6 communications module is installed. The 1203-GU6 communications module can be mounted on a DIN Rail base and connect to its intended SCANport device using a SCANport cable. This communications module enables DeviceNet connection by terminating a DeviceNet cable to the 5-pin Phoenix connector. This communication module has DIP switches that are turned ON and OFF to define the module’s operation settings. The 1203-GU6 communications module operates at a temperature between 32- and 122-degrees Fahrenheit and 0 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity levels. It can be protected by an enclosure with a NEMA Type 1 or IP 30 protection rating.
