The Allen-Bradley 1786-FS300 200-Micron cable assembly is a fiber-optic cable that is designed and manufactured with the ControlNet industrial networking protocol in mind. It comes with a pre-assembled V-pin style connector, and a maximum length of 300 meters (984.2 feet). For longer distances, the use of an Allen-Bradley 1786-RPFS fiber optic repeater is mandatory. The Allen-Bradley 1786-FS300 200-Micron cable assembly is formed by 3 main components: the buffer/coating, the cladding, and the core. The outer component that is designed to protect the inner glass fiber from the external environment is called the buffer or coating. The middle component is called the cladding and it is made of reflective material that serves to channel the light impulses traveling from one extreme to the other.
