The Allen-Bradley 1791-OA16 is a Block I/O module that features Sixteen (16) 20-132VAC output channels with frequency of 47-63 Hz. This module is provided with Two (2) groups of Eight (8) output channels capable of energizing electrical loads such as pilot lamps, buzzer, siren, relays, contactors and other devices.

The 1791-OA16 is compatible for use with the legacy PLC-2, PLC-3, PLC-5/20, and PLC-5 Programmable Logix Controllers. This module acts as a distributed input and output module, contributing to overall cost effectivity by eliminating the need of long distance signal cable runs as this module allows installation near the electrical devices. Additionally, this module has a small form factor that requires minimum pane space.

The 1791-OA16 is externally powered. It requires a supply voltage of 85-132VAC with frequency of 47-63 Hz and continuous current supply of 150 mA. It has built-in isolation circuitries, with the power supply to RIO isolation rating of 500VAC, )/O group to group isolation rating of 1250VAC and I/O group to logic isolation of 1250 VAC. When terminating signal wires to this module, appropriate conductors are gauge 14 stranded wire with maximum insulation thickness of 3/64 inches. The output voltage channels exhibit an ON to OFF transition delay of 8.3 ms at 60 Hz or 10.0 ms at 50 Hz. It also has a signal delay during OFF to ON transition, exhibiting 1.0 ms delay At 60 Hz and 1.0 ms delay at 50 Hz. This module supports horizontal and vertical mounting. When mounted vertically, this module has an output current rating of 300 mA at 60 Deg. Celsius and and 600 mA at 30 Deg. Celsius. When mounted horizontally, this module has an output current rating of 150 mA at 60 Deg. Celsius and 300 mA at 30 Deg. Celsius. The 1791-OA16 has a removable terminal strip that allows convenient termination of signals and replacement of the signal module. For troubleshooting purposes, there is a status indicator serving as troubleshooting reference. The required power for this product is 120 Volts AC. Before connecting the block I/O’s inputs to other devices, verify that the devices meet DC and AC inputs specifications. Also, check the required continuous current to power up the devices before connecting to the block I/O outputs. For vertical mounting, 1791-0A16 has a maximum output rating of 600 milliamps at 30 degrees Celsius and 300 milliamps at 60 degrees Celsius. For horizontal mounting, this block has a maximum output rating of 300 milliamps at 30 degrees Celsius and 150 milliamps at 60 degrees Celsius.
