The Allen-Bradley 2755-DD4A barcode decoder is a dual-head decoder. It is available in a NEMA Type 4 enclosure. All the connections and ports on the 2755-DD4A decoder comply with the NEMA Type 4 standards. The 2755-DD4A decoder has 2 ports for connecting bar code scanners which are known as Scanner Port A and Scanner Port B. The ports on the decoder can be used to connect scanners from the 2755-L4/L5, L7/L9, -LD4, and -LD8 lines. Scanners connected to the 2755-DD4A decoder do not require a separate power supply. Dual head barcode scanners such as the 2755-DD4A decoder operate in 2 modes which are the independent mode in which both connected scanners operate independently, and the coordinated mode in which both connected scanners operate in a coordinated manner using the same trigger source.

The host communication port on the 2755-DD4A decoder supports the RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 protocols and enables communication with a PLC or host computer. The AUX communication port supports the RS-232 protocol and it can be used to communicate with an ASCII terminal for decoder configuration and for manual data entry. Dual head decoders include 17 LED indicators. The 2755-DD4A decoder is designed to retain configuration during power interruptions for up to 6 hours at 122 degrees Fahrenheit. An optional battery can also be used which helps to retain the configuration for up to 5 years. An optional I/O module board can be ordered for the device which allows for the operation of up to 8 outputs which can be used to control AC/DC devices. The power requirement of the device is 80 VA at 100 to 240 Volts AC. The weight and dimensions of the device are 10 pounds and 10.25 x 12 x 4.57 inches, respectively.
