The 803-A10 unit, by the Rockwell Automation branch, Allen-Bradley, is a rotating cam limit switch and is a part of the series 803 family of cam limit switches. It is a heavy-duty unit manufactured for use with a shaft and mechanisms to transfer the rotational motion. It is a ten-circuit device with its contacts opened by ten eccentric, spring-loaded cams assemblies. Each cam comprises two separate and adjustable cam segments fixed on a shaft which has a rotational rate of 150 RPM at its maximum. Separate reducers with varying gear ratios could be used easily with this device, enabling operation on a wide range of RPM. It has the flexibility of choosing various shaft locations for initiation of contact actuation within the complete rotation cycle of 360 degrees.

This device contains 25A Normally Closed (N.C.) double break type contacts. It allows for dwell angles ranging from 14 degrees to maximum 346 degrees. This device could be used in various kinds of machines such as presses, assembly machines, water-way gates, injection molding machines, and more. The 803-A10 is a Type 1 enclosure device with dimensions of 27.25 X 22 X 18.44 inches; the shaft extension is provided on the left side. The 803-A10 comes with a timing adjustment and a dwell adjustment, both of which are internal. These adjustments must be made if the device is in an inactive condition. Remove cover and loosen the cam bolts to reach the cams when making these adjustments. These cams can be easily set as scales and are provided on the shaft or mounting plates. After completing the adjustments and setting the cams in position, tighten back the cam bolts and put back the cover. The N.C. contacts can be operated on a 50 or 60 Hertz frequency, with an AC voltage supply between 120 to 600 Volts and a DC voltage supply between 115 to 250 Volts. The 803-A10 provides long lasting operation in both directions of the shaft rotation and could be easily mounted in any plane.
