803-A3X

This switch by Allen-Bradley, the 803-A3X, is a Rotating Cam Limit type switch belonging to the series 803. This device is ideally applied in operations where a heavy-duty circuit control is needed on the equipment with a repetitive cycle of process. The 803-A3X rotating cam limit switch is meant to be installed in a way that makes correlations between the machine’s movement and its shaft rotation. In this way, it makes actuation of independent cam operators at various positions during shaft rotations. It is constructed to be maintenance free for an extensive number of working cycles. The switch works equally when rotating in CW or in CCW direction or when mounted on any type of plane.

The 803-A3X limit switch is produced as a “style A” limit switch from the bulletin 803 series. There are three separate cam-rollers installed on this device, all of which actuate three 25 A rated double break contacts. The cam duration can be adjusted within the range of 14 to 346 degrees. The device is type 1 industrial enclosure rated. The special feature of this model is shaft extension provided on both sides. All bulletin 803 limit switches, including the 803-A3X, have a steel base with rugged cast iron plates, a shaft of  0.75 inches, a set of cam contacts at 25 A along with vibration resistant locking nut fixed adjustable cam segments, and a cabling entrance each side. The 803-A3X  measures around 7.88 x 5.69 x 6.64 inches (200.1 x 144.5 x 168.7 millimeters). It weighs approximately 21 pounds (9.5 kilograms) and can operate in a temperature range of -22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit (-30 to 66 degrees Celsius). Allen-Bradley ceased manufacturing this part in the year 2007.
