The 803-A84X rotating Cam limit Switch by Allen-Bradley is a heavy-duty circuit control switch with a double shaft extension modification and with a shaft mounted cam control mechanism. It is used with machinery with dedicated operational cycles, in applications where machine motion correlates with shaft rotation. The 803-A84X is built for rugged industrial processes with heavy-duty and long-life operations, and it is suitable for applications like steel forming/heavy metals, injection molding, and assembly and packing processes. It comes with 8 control circuits with cam-opened normally-closed (NC) contact, and 8 independently-operated cam assemblies with adjustable cam segments (lobes and valleys). The 803-A84X has a spring-loaded cam roller mounted on a contact base and a rotating shaft with a 150rpm base speed, and an internal slot (keyway) for connecting the moving machine parts to the rotating shaft. the device is activated when the shaft rotates, and the cam lobes press against the cam roller, actuating Contacts 1 and 2 of the NC contact, and it de-activates as the cam valley moves through the cam roller.

The 803-A84X has a cam activation duration (dwell time) determined by the size of the cam lobes, and when the adjacent cam lobes offset at the maximum angle, the device achieves its maximum dwell time. When they align perfectly, the device achieves its minimum dwell time. It has a set timing in degree, determined by the position of the cam relative to the keyway, and like all Style A series devices, it has a minimum and maximum cam duration range of 14 and 346 degrees, respectively. The 803-A84X also has internal dwell time and timing adjustments (settings), and the settings of the timing and the dwell time determine machine operations. The device has a NEMA type 4 and 13 oil-tight, dust-tight, and watertight rated industrial enclosure, and unlike most devices in the Style A series, it comes with double shaft extension modification. The 803-A84X has a working temperature range of -30 to 66 degrees Celsius (-22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit) without hindering contact operation, and it has a designated storage temperature range of -30 to 93 degrees Celsius (-22 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit). it has both CE, CSA, and UL certifications, and it comes with aggregate dimensions of 311.2 x 144.5 x 200 millimeters (12.25 x 5.69 x 7.88 inches), with an approximate weight of 16.3 kilograms (36 pounds).
