The 803-B10X Rotating Cam Limit Switch is a control circuit in the Allen-Bradley 803 Style “B” series with 10 control circuits and a double-shaft extension used with heavy-duty machinery with repetitive operation cycles. The device uses a shaft-mounted cam for control with the cam actuating contact as the shaft rotates and it is suitable for packaging/assembling, steel forming, and injection molding applications. The 803-B10X comes with 10 circuits with 10A snap action contact (1 NC, 1 NO), a spring-loaded cam-roller assembly, a 150 RPM rotating shaft with a keyway, and 10 independently operated cam assemblies with adjustable upper and lower cam segments. Its 10A snap action contact has AC contact ratings of 12/1.2A MAKE/BREAK current at 600 Volts AC, 0.1A DC contact rating at 550 to 600 Volts DC. The 803-B10X activates the circuit as the cam higher segment (lobe) brushes against the cam-roller assembly, and the circuit is de-activated as the lower cam segment (valley) passes across the cam-roller.

The cam switch has a dwell time corresponding to the size of the upper cam segments, and the dwell time is at its maximum when the lobes offset at the maximum angle, and it is at the minimum when the lobes are aligned. The 803-B10X has a set timing measured in degrees, which is a measure of the cam position on the shaft, with reference to the keyway/top dead center, and like every Style “B” switch, the 803-B10X has a cam duration range of 14 to 346 degrees. The device has internal dwell and timing adjustments, and the settings of the dwell and timing determine the machine’s operation. It comes with factory-customized double shaft extension, and it is enclosed in a NEMA 4, and 13 rated enclosure. The 803-B10X has a working temperature range of -22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, with its storage range is -22 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and it is covered with a cast iron side plate. It weighs about 19.1 kilograms (42 pounds), with an aggregate dimension of 411.2 x 144.5 x 200 millimeters (16.19 x 5.69 x 7.88 inches).
