The Allen-Bradley 803-B44W device is a Bulletin 803 rotating cam limit switch that is engineered for heavy-duty operation with machines that function in repetitive cycles. for Its components are so rugged that if it is installed and used properly, it can function perfectly for years with little or no maintenance necessary. The Allen-Bradley 803-B44W is a Style “B” rotating cam limiting switch. These Style “B” cam switches have left shaft extensions with a maximum shaft speed of 150 RPM, 2 to 12 independent cam operators, 1 normally closed (NC) snap action contactor, and 1 normally open (NO) snap action contactor, both of which are rated at 10 A. The 803-B44W and other Style “B” rotating cam limiting switches fit in Type 1 and Type 4 and 13 enclosures.

The Allen-Bradley 803-B44W rotating cam limiting switch’s shortest cam duration or dwell time is 14 degrees while its longest cam duration or dwell time is 346 degrees. The dwell times or cam durations are measured in degrees because they are determined by the angles of the 803-B44W’s 2 cam segments in different positions. As a result, the dwell time is shortest when the cam segments are aligned as much as possible at the smallest possible angle, and the dwell time is longest when the cam segments are offset from each other at the greatest possible angle. The greater the angle is, the more time it will take for the 803-B44W’s shaft to rotate through it. The cam segments activate the 803-B44W’s circuit when they reach their highest position or lobe.
