The Allen-Bradley 803-B5 rotating cam limit switch is part of the Bulletin 803 product series. This rotating cam limit switch senses the movement of rotating shafts and it initiates functions at different points of the shafts’ repetitive-rotation cycle. These industrial control circuit devices open and close their contacts at various angles of machine shaft rotation. Cams are mounted on a shaft and they activate the contacts as the shaft rotates. 803-B5 switches with modifications are available for specific applications. Specific applications include punch presses, assembly lines, packing machines, injection molding machines, and steel forming. These switches are designed for heavy-duty industrial applications and they require very little maintenance when properly installed. The 803-B5 switch shaft assemblies rotate smoothly on precision-engineered and rugged bearings. These switches operate equally well when rotating in either direction (clockwise and counter-clockwise) and they can be mounted in any plane or at any angle. The maximum shaft speed supported by the 803-B5 is 150 RPM. The cam dwell duration can range from a minimum of 14 to a maximum of 346 degrees. The 803-B5 supports internal dwell and the timing adjustments which can only be changed when the device is not operating. The left shaft extension is available as the standard feature. The 803-B5 is available only in a Type 1 or general purpose enclosure. The switch’s operating temperature range is -22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit (-30 to 66 degrees Celsius) and it weighs approximately 12.2 kilograms.
