The 803-F1012 Rotating Cam Limit Switch is a Style “F” heavy-duty circuit control switch from Allen-Bradley that is employed with industrial machinery that has dedicated machine operation cycles in industrial applications where motion corresponds to shaft rotation. The device operates by using shaft-mounted rotating cams which actuate contact as the shaft rotates and it is suitable for industrial processes like packaging, steel forming, and injection molding. The 803-F1012 has 10 circuits with a 10A snap-action contact block (1 NC and 1 NO contact) with AC and DC contact ratings and a rotating shaft with 150 RPM of maximum shaft speed and with a shaft slot (keyway) which connects the moving machines to the shaft. The 803-F1012 switch comes with a spring-loaded cam-roller, and with 10 independently-operated cams with variable valleys and lobes. The circuits are actuated when the cam lobes brush against the cam roller assembly and it de-activates when the valley passes through the cam roller.

The 803-F1012 has a dwell time corresponding to the duration of activation, and it is determined by the size of the lobes, and the switch has a timing corresponding to how long the rotating cam will actuate the contact, and it is determined by the position of the cam on the shaft, with respect to the keyway. The device dwell time and the timing can be adjusted externally while the machine is in motion by using a screwdriver, and each setting of the timing and dwell time determines the operation of the machine. The 803-F1012, like all devices in the Style P series, comes with a standard left shaft extension, and a NEMA Type 4, and 13 rated enclosure. It has a functioning temperature bracket of -30 to 66 degrees Celsius (-22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit), with a rated storage temperature limits of -30 to 93 degrees Celsius (-22 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit), and it is CE, CSA, and UL-certified.
