The Allen-Bradley 803-F412 switch is a Bulletin 803 Rotating Cam Limit Switch in the F Series. These “F” Series rotating cam limit switches have timing and dwell time settings that can be adjusted externally. The 803-F412’s timing is the amount of time for which the switch’s cam activates the circuit. How long this activation time lasts depends on the position and the angle of the cam on the 803-F412’s shaft relative to the slot in the shaft called the keyway. This angle can be set externally. The 803-F412’s dwell time is similar to the timing, but it is determined by the size of the device’s cam lobes which are the highest possible positions of the cam segments. The dwell time is shortest when the 2 cam segments are aligned with each other, and the longest dwell time occurs when the 2 cam segments are offset from each other at the biggest possible angle. The 803-F412 rotating cam limit switch’s minimum dwell time is 12 degrees and its maximum dwell time is 348 degrees. These settings can be adjusted externally with a screwdriver even when the cam limit switch is operating. Other features of the 803-F412 switch include two 10A-rated snap action contacts. One is normally closed (N.C.) and one is normally open (N.O.) The device also comes with 2-12 independent cam operators, a standard left shaft extension with a maximum shaft speed of 150 RPM, and the whole rotating cam limit switch is protected inside a Type 1 or a Type 13 enclosure.
