The Allen-Bradley 803-F712 is a Rotating Cam Limit Switch from the 803 product family. This bulletin 803 switching device is engineered for control and feedback purposes on machines with cyclic operations performed at relatively slow speeds. This condition sensing switch provides a rugged, industrial-grade design, which is based on several integrated components, including a heavy-duty base made of steel, robust cast iron side plates, a rotating shaft with a 3/4 inch diameter, seven 10A rated snap action single pole double throw (1 NO / 1 NC) contacts, heavy-duty cam segments (adjustable) with vibration resistant locking nuts, and cable glands. All of these integral parts are designed to provide a longer service life and to reduce downtime.
This 803-F712 performs heavy-duty contacts opening and closing at various angles of machine shaft rotation. As the shaft rotates, the cam operator mechanism activates the circuit at a user-defined angular position (timing). The circuit is activated for a period of time, as defined by another parameter – dwell. Both parameters are externally adjustable with a screwdriver, even while the device is operating. NEMA Types 1 & 13 industrial enclosures are implemented to protect this condition sensing device. Shaft extension is left-hand oriented (front device view). The Allen-Bradley 803-F712 switch’s outer dimensions (shaft extension not calculated) are 312.7 x 177.8 x 82.6 millimeters (12.31 x 7.00 x 3.25 Its working temperature range is -30 to 66 degrees Celsius (-22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit). Note that Allen-Bradley announced the 803-F712 module as discontinued in 2007.
