The 803-P2 Rotating Cam Limit Switch by Allen-Bradley is a heavy-duty circuit control switch in the Bulletin 803 Style P switch series, used with machinery with dedicated operation cycles in an industrial application where machine motion directly corresponds to shaft motion. It is built for heavy and long life industrial applications and it is suitable for processes like packaging and assembling, punch presses, and steel forming processes. It comes with 2 cam-opened double-break 25A NC contacts, with 37.5/3.75A MAKE/BREAK contact ratings at 480 Volts AC and a rotating shaft with 150rpm of maximum shaft speed. The 803-P2 also has 2 independently operated cam assemblies with adjustable lobes (higher cam segment) and valleys (lower cam segment), and a spring-loaded cam roller. The circuit activates as the shaft rotates and the lobe presses against the cam roller, opening the NC contacts and it is deactivated as the valley passes through cam roller.

The 803-P2 has a cam dwell time (duration of activation) corresponding to the size of the cam lobes, and the dwell time is at the maximum when the lobes are offset at the maximum angle and the dwell time is at the minimum when lobes align. It has a timing (cam duration) determined by the position of the cam with reference to the Top Dead Center (TDC) on the keyway, and like all Style P devices, the 803-P2 has a cam duration range of 11 to 349 degrees. The device comes with a factory-standard right shaft extension with a high-speed internally adjusted dwell time and timing settings, and the adjustment of both the dwell time and the timing determines the machine’s control settings. The 803-P2 has a NEMA Type 1 indoor rated enclosure, and working temperature limits of -22-150 degrees Fahrenheit, with storage limits of -22 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. It weighs about 6.8 kilograms (15 pounds) with a total device volume of 150.9 x 181x 138.1 millimeters (5.9 x 7.13 x 5.44 inches), and it has CE, UL, and CSA certification.
