The 803-P2X Rotating Cam Limit Switch with a Double Shaft Extension, is a heavy-duty control circuit device from Allen-Bradley. It used with machines that have dedicated operation cycles in processes where the mechanical motion is influenced by the switch’s shaft rotation. The device makes use of a cam mounted on a shaft, which provides contact actuation as the shaft rotates, and it is designed for heavy-duty industrial applications that require machines with a long life. The 803-P2X has 2 circuits with cam-opened N.C. double break contacts, and 2 independent cam operators with adjustable higher (lobe) and lower (valley) segments. It also has a spring-loaded cam roller, with a 400 RPM rotating shaft with over-sized ball bearings, and a keyway which connects the driven shaft to the moving machines. The device has a 25 A double break N.C. contact with a 25 A carrying current and AC/DC MAKE BREAK contact ratings, and it is opened as the lobe touches the cam roller assembly. The circuit de-activates when the valley passes under the cam roller and the device has a dwell time (activation duration) determined by the length of the lobes.

The dwell time is at the maximum when the 2 cam lobes offset at the maximum angle, and the dwell time is at the minimum when both lobes align. The 803-P2X has a timing measured in angular degrees, and it is determined by the position of the cam on the shaft, with reference to the keyway’s position, and it has a minimum and maximum cam duration range of 11 degrees to 349 degrees.  The device comes with a factory-modified double shaft extension, and internally adjusted timing and dwell settings. The 803-P2X comes with a NEMA Type 1 enclosure, and it has an operating temperature range of -22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, with storage limits of -22 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
