The Bulletin 803-P4 rotating cam switch device is a Type “P” device that allows the desired rotation of some heavy-duty machinery or equipment in a series of industry-specific applications. These devices by Allen Bradley serve as control circuit devices that are used for controlling different circuit functions in industrial machinery. Within the given range of industrial applications, the Style “P” 803-P4 device can be used to detect the presence, absence, position, rotating speed, range, travel limit, and various other related factors to count discrete events or break the given circuit. The 803-P4 device has been designed to support the industrial equipment and machinery involving a repetitive set of rotational movements. With a diverse range of different styles and features, the 803-P4 has the Style “P” modification of the standard 803 rotating cam limit switch. This device has 2 to 12 independent cam devices and features a 25 Ampere N.C. double break contact. Falling under the category of a Type 1 enclosure, the 803-P4 device offers the maximum shaft speed of 400 RPM. The 803-P4 also offers the cam duration of the minimum value at 11 degrees and a maximum value of 349 degrees. The Style “P” rotating switch is available with or even without cams. A right-hand shaft extension has been made standard in this particular modification of devices.

The 803-P4 Style “P” device usually comes with internal timing & dwell adjustments, for the ease of installation. Both of these internal adjustments can be made while the device is not in motion. The overall installation process is quite simple for the 803-P4 devices; to start, remove the cover. Then loosen the cam bolts and rotate the cams to the desired operating position. Once this is complete, tighten the cam bolts again and replace the device cover.
