The Allen-Bradley 803-P7 is a Style P rotating cam limit switch with 7 circuits and with cams. This heavy-duty switch has adjustable internal dwell time and timing settings, which users can modify, but only when the cam switch is at a standstill. This rotating cam limit switch has the capacity to rotate in either a clockwise or a counterclockwise direction equally well. It is designed to have maximum application flexibility. Standard features of Style P switches that are present on the 803-P7 cam limit switch are a right-hand shaft extension, 25 Amp. N. C. or normally closed double break contacts, a cam duration that ranges from 11 degrees minimum to 349 degrees maximum, and a maximum shaft speed of 400 RPM. It also has a Type 1 enclosure that is only suitable for indoor use and it weighs approximately 27 pounds or 12.2 kilograms. Present on all of Allen-Bradley’s 803 series switches is a spring-loaded cam-roller assembly which is mounted to the switch’s contact base and these can be mounted on any plane or at any angle.
Manufacturers can use the heavy duty 803-P7 switch on machines that have repetitive operation cycles with correlated shaft rotation and machine motion. Its non-operating temperature is from -30 to 93 degrees Celsius and its operating temperature ranges from -30 to 66 degrees Celsius. The typical shaft torques of the 803-P7 switch are 7 pounds on an inch when the cam roller rides up the cam ramp, 3 pounds on an inch when the cam roller rides on the lobe, and 0.5 pounds on an inch with the cam roller in a valley.
