The 803-P8W cam switch is an Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation cam switch from the Bulletin 803 and Style P series. Its 8 cams are all independent and internally adjustable. The 803-P8W cam switch comes with an external adjustment sprocket as a special feature that can be used to change or adjust the relative position of the switch’s shaft to the driving mechanism. Additionally, the switch’s shaft has a right extension and a maximum rated rotation speed of 400 RPM. The 803-P8W cam switch can operate at temperatures between -30 and 66 degrees Celsius and it can be stored at temperatures between -30 and 93 degrees Celsius.

The 803-P8W Rotating Cam Limit Switch with an External Adjustment Sprocket Option is a heavy-duty control circuit device from Allen-Bradley. It is used with industrial machinery with dedicated operation cycles, in operations where the machine motion correlates with the shaft rotation. The 803-P8W is a device in the Style P series, and it operates using shaft mounted cams, and these cams produce contact actuation as the shaft rotates. The device is made for heavy-duty operations with long life, in applications like assembling/packaging, punch presses, and steel forming/heavy metal operations. The 803-P8W has 8 independently operated cam assemblies that have adjustable lobes and valleys (cam segments), and the switch has a contact-mounted, spring-controlled cam roller. The device has a 400 RPM rotating shaft that features a keyway slot for connecting to machines, and it has 8 control circuits which have 25A normally-closed double break contact with AC and DC contact ratings, and it is activated when the cam lobe presses against the cam roller assembly as the shaft rotates.
The device has maximum cam activation duration (maximum dwell time) when the cam lobes offset at the maximum angle, and when the cam lobes align perfectly, it achieves its minimum dwell time. The moment when the cam activates the circuit (timing) is determined by the position of the cam on the shaft, with respect to the position of the keyway. Like all Style P devices, the 803-P8W’s cam duration range is 11 to 349 degrees. The switch has internal dwell and timing settings, which determine the operation of machines, and it comes with an external adjustment sprocket which provides a means of changing relative between the driving mechanism and the rotating shaft. The 803-P8W has a standard Right shaft extension, and it is fitted with a rugged cast iron side plate, which makes it suitable for harsh industrial environment. The 803-P8W switch has a working temperature range of -22 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit, with a non-operating temperature range of -22 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and it comes in a NEMA Type 1 enclosure. It has a net weight of 10 kilograms (22 pounds), with a total shipping volume of 483.3 by 181 by 138.1 millimeters, and it is CE, UL, and CSA-certified.
