From Allen Bradley’s family of Rotating Cam Limit Switches comes the Rotating Cam Limit Switch 803-PL3.  As with all members in its series, this switch is designed to detect the movement of rotating machinery by commencing certain tasks at diverse locations in the recurring operational cycle of the machine.  The cams, mounted on a shaft, activate the contacts as they rotate in either direction. Built for rugged applications, this condition sensing switch, with internal adjustments, delivers remarkable control for the automated performance of processes and operations.  This is done via its sensors, which provide control intelligence at crucial values. These can then be used to provide an indicator to operators for manual operation or transmit the gathered information to sequence an equipment automatically. On proper applications, the 803-PL3 assists in reducing operational costs as systems and processes are improved, operators are protected, downtime is reduced, and the safety of expensive equipment is assured. The 803-PL3 can be used in a variety of applications, such as with machines that are used for injection molding, packing, and assembly.  It is also used in punch presses, steel forming, or heavy metals operations, as well as waterway gate or lock operations.

The 803-PL3 belongs to the Style “P” series of the Allen Bradley Rotating Cam Limit Switches.  It is Type 1 enclosure with 25 Amp N.C. double break contact and three circuits.  It comes without a cam (which can be ordered separately) with a standard right shaft extension that can reach up to a maximum high speed of 400 Revolutions Per Minute (RPM).  It can also have 2 to 12 independent cam operators.
