The Allen-Bradley 803-PL5 is a rotating cam limit switch that has a left-hand standard shaft extension and 5 circuits. This operator-less cam is a Style P switch that comes with 25 Amp. N. C. or normally closed double break contacts, with a cam duration that ranges from a minimum of 11° to a maximum of 349°, and a maximum shaft speed of 400 RPM. All of these features are standard to Style P switches. Note that all Allen-Bradley 803 series switches, including the 803-PL5 switch, come with a spring-loaded cam-roller assembly mounted on its contact base. It also has an adjustable internal dwell time and timing settings that are configurable only when the switch is at a standstill. The 803-PL5 is also capable of rotating well in both directions when mounted on any kind of plane. Note that the 803-PL5 has a Type 1 enclosure rating.

The 803-PL5 cam switch is used with machines whose repetitive operation cycles have the shaft rotation correlated to its normal motion. Specific applications compatible with the 803-PL5 switch include steel forming, assembly, packing, and injection molding. Its operating temperature ranges from -22 to 151 °F and its storage temperature is from -22 to 200 °F. This switch also has typical shaft torques of 7-inch pounds when the cam roller rides up the cam ramp, of 0.5-inch pounds with the cam roller in the valley, and of 3-inch pounds when the cam roller rides on the lobe.
