MVI69-DFCM

The MVI69-DFCM is a CompactLogix compatible module from Prosoft Technology. This module is specifically a DF1 communication module that comes with Two (2) application ports labeled as P1 and P2 that are configurable for RS232 / RS422 / RS485 electrical standard operable as DF1 Master or Slave ports in a full-duplex or half-duplex configuration. These ports enable a CompactLogix or MicroLogix 1500 controller to simultaneously communicate with partner devices such as Human Machine Interface (HMI), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, PLCs, gateways, protocol converters, and other similar devices. The MVI69-DFCM supports CRD and BCC error checking, full hardware shaking that is designed for radio, modem, and multi-drop communication, user-configurable memory usage, and support for storage and transfer of up to 4000 registers to and from the host processor module. It also supports read and write commands of up to 125 Words. This module is also capable of floating-point data movement. This module is also compatible with MicroLogix 1500 LRP. It has a backplane current draw of 800 mA max@ 5 VDC with a power supply distance rating of 2 however, when used with CompactLogix L43 and L45, this module must be installed on the first 2 slots of the 1769 bus. The MVI69-DFCM has an operating temperature of 0 to 60°C (32 to 140°F); storage temperature of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F) and a relative humidity requirement of 5% to 95% (non-condensing).

The MVI69-DFCM is a Master-Slave Communication Module created by Prosoft Technology, which allows CompactLogix and MicroLogix platforms to easily interface with DF1 protocol compatible hosts as well as devices. The most common devices that support the protocol include power monitoring systems, Rockwell Automation PLCs, and third-party devices available in the marketplace. This module comes with 2 application serial ports that can be user-configured to serve as master or slave ports. The transfer of data between the MVI69-DFCM and the CompactLogix or MicroLogix processor is often asynchronous to the DF1 protocol, with the communication module’s internal database being utilized for data exchange. This single-slot communication module is 1769 backplane-compatible and it offers CRC and BBC error checking capabilities. Both full and half-duplex data transfer modes are supported by the DF1 ports. The MVI69-DFCM has a maximum power rating of 800 milliamps (mA) at 5 Volts DC and can be DIN rail or panel-mounted. It has an operating temperature range of between 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). This module suitable for use in various industrial applications, including food processing, SCADA system pipelines, mining, offshore platforms, paper making, and pulp manufacturing. The MVI69-DFCM’s DF1 ports can be independently configured as master ports. Once configured in Master Mode, this module is able to read and write (or transfer) data between remote DF1 devices and the processor, enabling the CompactLogix or MicroLogix platform to serve as a SCADA-based sub-master. Error codes are available on a personal command basis and a list of slave statuses is maintained for every active master port. This module also comes with a customizable polling of the command features that includes disabled, continuous, and ON data change. Each master port contains up to 100 commands that are fully configurable for slave address, word or byte count, function, and register addressing.
