The Allen-Bradley 5069-L320ERMS3 is a CompactLogix safety controller. Specifically, this is a Compact GuardLogix controller that features SIL 3/PLe safety rating. With this safety rating, this controller may be used in applications that require up to and including SIL 3 rating.

The 5069-L320ERMS3 Compact GuardLogix controller is designed to have a faster response time compared to the previous GuardLogix versions. Only One (1) Safety Task may be configured using this controller however, up to 1000 programs can be handled by a single task. For standard functions, up to 31 tasks may be configured which can be continuous, periodic and event tasks using all event triggers. This is same with the safety task supported by the controller.

The built-in user memory amounts to 2 MB and safety memory of 1 MB while the built-in non-volatile memory amounts to 2GB provided by the 1784-SD2 memory card. This memory card may be replaced and expanded up to 32GB. Other compatible cards include 1784-SD1 (1 GB), 1784-SDHC8 (8 GB), 1784-SDHC32 (32 GB) and 9509-CMSDCD4 (4 GB) CodeMeter CmCard card.

This controller has an I/O capacity of 128,000 packets/second and message rate capacity of 2000 messages/second. The provided communication interfaces with controller are Two (2) ethernet I/P interfaces and One (1) USB port. Communication rate supported by the Ethernet interfaces are 10 / 100 Mbps and 1 Gbps communication speed while the USB port supports up to 12 Mbps transfer rate. This GuardLogix controller is configured using Studio 5000 Logix designer, Version 31 or higher.
