The MVI56-DNP is a master-slave communications network interface module developed by InRAx that allows ControlLogix-enabled processors to interface with field devices that support DNP (Distributed Network Protocols). The MVI56-DNP is supported by the DNP Subset Level 2 features of the device that allow for the efficient transmission of control commands as well as for data transmission. This allows for tremendous improvements in the speed and quality of data transfers between the connected ControlLogix processors and the field devices. The MVI56-DNP’s data transfer from the Control Logic is asynchronous to the DNP network actions. The MVI56-DNP interface module is made easy to use thanks to the dual DNP protocol ports.
The communications rating ranges between 110 and 115200 Baud. The voltage rating of the MVI56-DNP ranges between 5 and 24 Volts DC. The amperage rating of the MVI56-DNP ranges between 3 and 800 mA. The MVI56-DNP has an operational temperature requirement of 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Pre-configured drive settings for the MVI56-DNP can be downloaded and installed on the module from a PC. The input and output data blocks can be individually monitored and mapped on the MVI56-DNP’s data memory for maximum flexibility and efficiency. For data transfer between the module and processors, the MVI56-DNP uses Ladder Logic. The device comes with both local and remote rack options as well as a configurable I/O backplane. The MVI56-DNP has a Configuration/Debug serial port that allows for all kinds of things like status checks, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting from PCs and tablet devices. The serial cable for this purpose is provided with the MVI56-DNP when it is shipped, along with the manual and installation parts.
