The MVI56E-GSC is an authentic Allen-Bradley enhanced communication module that can be used to interface programmable automation controllers with serial devices via non-specific ASCII devices. This modular, which belongs to the MVI56E series, can also be used to interface PACs with byte value-based serial communication protocols. The MVI56E-GSC comes with enhancement features—including local as well and remote diagnostics options via its Ethernet port. Also, this Allen-Bradley module is outfitted with CIPconnect technology that helps optimize ControlNet in addition to Ethernet/IP networks. With this unit, users get an onboard web server featuring status information, sample program files, as well as module documentation. Users can use the MVI56E-GSC module to easily and efficiently add 2 completely configurable serial communication-based ports to a ControlLogix platform. This eliminates the need for the processor’s front port, conserving valuable processing time for sending as well as receiving serial messages.
The MVI56E-GSC communication module is single-slot based and it can be an effective backplane-compatible solution for all of the users’ industrial needs. Each of the module’s ports can send and receive up to 4096 ASCII character strings and bytes. The MVI56E-GSC’s backplane current load is 800 milliamps at 5 Volts DC or 3 milliamps 24 Volts DC. The MVI56E-GSC must be operated at a temperature of between 0 and 60 degrees Celsius. Ensure that the module is stored at a temperature of between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius. The MVI56E-GSC weighs 30 grams and it can operate at a vibration of between 10 and 150 Hertz. The MVI56E-GSC’s non-condensing relative humidity is between 5 and 95%. When installing the MVI56E-GSC, ensure that all phase conductor sizes are set at 1.3 millimeters squared and earth ground conductors at 4 millimeters squared.
