The MVI56E-MNETC is a ProSoft technology Modbus TCP/IP Multi Client/Server Enhanced Network Interface Module. This module is specifically compatible with the ControlLogix platform. This module takes up a single slot of a ControlLogix chassis with an electrical consumption of 800mA of available 5 VDC and 3 mA of available 24 VDC power.
It requires version 16 or higher if used with Add-On instruction (AOI) and version 15 or lower is used with the provided sample ladder program. Additionally, it needs the ProSoft Configuration Builder (PCB) to enter configurations to the module.
The MVI56E-MNETC supports up to 30 MODBUS clients and 20 MODBUS servers. This module is guaranteed to exhibit increased response in multi-server architecture, minimizes effect to other servers in the event of sudden server offline and supports Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) by providing access to data for integration.
The MVI56E-MNETC comes with a single Ethernet communication port that supports 10/100 Mbps transmission rate and capable of detecting use of auto-crossover cable. It is backward compatible with the previous MVI56E-MNETC version and releases with 10,000 Word, 16-bit integer that support custom data mapping. This module also supports use of an industrial grade CompactFlash card for disaster recovery and rapid replacement. This CF card is also termed as personality module.
The MVI56E-MNETC is designed with a backplane current load of 800 milliamperes at 5 Volts DC and 3 milliamperes at 24 Volts DC. The operating and storage temperature for the TCP/IP module is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit) and -25 to 70 degrees Celsius (-13 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit), respectively. The Modbus TCP/IP module supports up to 10 connections on service port 502 (MBAP) and up to 10 independent servers on service port 2000 (encapsulated). In the Master server, 30 client’s connections with up to 16 commands are supported by the capability of communicating with several servers simultaneously. The MVI56E-MNETC has error codes, counters, and module status available through the server, client, ladder logic, and controller tags. This Modbus TCP/IP is flexible enough to be compatible with the older versions of Modbus and the single slot 1756 ControlLogix backplane.
