The MVI94-MCM is a Modbus Master or Slave Network Interface Module that is manufactured by ProSoft Technologies. The MVI94-MCM is classified as a Flex I/O series device and functions as a device that allows the Flex processors to interface easily with the other Modbus protocol compatible devices. The MVI94-MCM comes with a form factor specified as a single slot 1794 backplane compatible and used to locate in any slot of the backplane. The backplane current load for the module is 20 mA at 5 Volts with the external power supply for the module having a rating of 12 to 24 volts DC. The operating temperature for the MVI94-MCM is 0 to 55 degrees Celsius and the storage temperature is -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. The module comes with a shock absorption capability of 30 grams when at the operational status and 50 grams at the non-operational status. The relative humidity for the MVI94-MCM is 5 to 95% non-condensing. The module uses LED status indicators which function to indicate the status of the module and backplane transfer statuses. The MVI94-MCM requires a communication program in order to send and also receive data over the serial port on the computer to the module. This means that you need to use a single communication program referred to as the HyperTerminal. The modules functional specifications includes acting as support for the storage and the transfer of over 5000 registers to and from the Flex processor`s and the data files. The other functional specification is as a user definable module memory usage and application port that emulates the Modbus master or the slave device.
The MV194-MCM is a Prosoft Technology Modbus communication module. This module is compatible for use with the 1794 Flex I/O product family and occupies a single slot of the 1794 backplane - it may be installed to any available slot of the chassis.
The MV194-MCM comes with one (1) serial configuration port labeled as PRT1 in the form of mini-DIN RS-232 and supports hardware handshaking; It also has one (1) application serial port labelled as PRT2 which is a mini-DIN port that supports RS-232 / RS-422 / RS-485 electrical standard with jumper selectable and has a 500 Volt optical isolation from the FlexBus backplane.
The MV194-MCM supports MODBUS function codes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 15, and 16 and communicates to a Modbus Master attached to the same Modbus network. It is capable of storage and transfer of up to 5000 registers, to and from the Flex I/O processor’s data files. Additionally, the module has a user-configurable module memory and supports the Enron Modbus version used for floating point data transactions.
One of the main features of this module is that the Application port of this module can emulate Modbus master or Modbus slave device. It supports not only MODICON PLCs as it also supports almost all devices that are Modbus enabled.
Each port of the MV194-MCM supports up to one hundred (100) commands. It can be configured and operated via a user program written in Ladder programming language.
