The 1797-PS2N is an intrinsically safe Power supply unit from Allen-Bradley’s Flex Ex series. This power supply is a 24 VDC rated device with quad-Ex output, each output providing an output voltage range of 19.2-31.2 VDC with a nominal voltage of 24 VDC. Additionally, each output delivers an output power of 0f 8.5 Watts. The 1797-PS2N is approved for installation in Class I Division 1 Group A, B, C, D; Class II Division 1 Groups E, F, G; Class III (only UL/cUL) and Class I Division 1 Groups B-D T4 (only FM) industrial location or areas. Similarly, the device’s output IS type are rated for Class I Division 1 Groups A, B, C, D; Class II Division 1 Groups E, F, G; Class III (only UL/cUL) and Class I Division 1 Groups B-D T4 (only FM) as well. The 1797-PS2N’s input voltage range is 19-32 VDC and terminated via terminals 1,2, 4, and 5. It has a current consumption of 3.1 Amperes and 5% ripple. Connections can be made via the input power entrance which is 1 in. Nipple Pipe Thread (NPT), 6 in. conduit allowed between power supply and seal (UL and C-UL) or 1 in. NPT, 0 in. conduit allowed between power supply and seal (FM). No other holes may be introduced to this power supply unit to maintain the IS safety feature. For output connections, designated output terminals are terminal 10-17. The 1797-PS2N has an input power rating of 55 Watts, power dissipation of 21 Watts, and thermal dissipation of 71.67 BTU / hr.

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation power supply with the product code 1797-PS2N is a component designed for FLEX Ex systems that are used for providing a safe environment for a controlled system. The FLEX Ex power supply’s main goal is to isolate all of the control system’s incoming power that is not secured and also to put limitations on available energy, setting it to levels that are safe for IS. When operating in hazardous environments, the FLEX Ex system uses only this power supply for its components and FLEX Ex modules are used to power other parts of the system such as transmitters, actuators, or valves. The users should determine how many power source units there are. The 1797-PS2N component is a 24 Volts DC in/quad-Ex DC out type of power supply with an enclosure that is made to withstand explosions. The enclosure of the power supply has a 1-inch conduit pipe-thread with input and output terminations. The power supply features 4 channels with 8.5 Watts output power for every channel and feeds for dual power for source input redundancy. The FLEX Ex power supply uses a 24 Volts DC power source. Besides that, all the outputs of the power source are IS-isolated and every channel is independently IS-limited. The power supply consumes 3.1 Amps and it features 21 Watts of power dissipation and 71.67 BTU per hour of thermal dissipation. The other specifications of the 1797-PS2N include an input power of 55 Watts, a 5% AC ripple and a voltage range of 19 to 32 Volts. The 1797-PS2N power supply’s approximate weight is 7.3 kilograms or 16 pounds. The dimensions of the component are 174 x 174 x 128 millimeters (6.9 x 6.9 x 5.04 inches). The unit operates on maximum temperatures of 70 degrees Celsius (158 degrees Fahrenheit) and minimum temperatures of -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit). The storage temperature ranges from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit) and the unit can be placed in an environment with relative non-condensing humidity of 5 to 95%. Besides that, the 1797-PS2N includes IP66/NEMA 7B protection and resistance to shock and vibration.
