The Flex I/O 1797 system is a module I/O system from Allen-Bradley which mounts directly onto controlled equipment. It is manufactured with advanced technology which allows it to be part of a distributed architecture system even in hazardous areas. The 1797 system is designed in a wide range of variety and specialty modules to meet different application demands. The system offers network flexibility which communicates on the Ethernet/IP, ControlNet, DeviceNet, and the remote I/O networks. The Flex I/O 1797 system has improved plant operations. It uses HART data for asset management software. The I/O system can be operated between -20 and 70 degrees Celsius. When not in use, they can be stored at a temperature range between -40 and 85 degrees Celsius.


The Flex I/O 1797 system is available with modules that come in different variants. These variants have different power dissipation levels, different I/O types, input frequencies, thermal dissipation levels, module field-side power consumption levels, input connectors, voltage ranges, and current consumption ratings. The 1797 system contains a network adapter, terminal bases, and I/O modules. The system can be mounted horizontally or vertically by using the standard 35-millimeter DIN Rail mounting or panel mounting methods without getting derated. The Flex I/O 1797 system has built-in galvanic isolation which eliminates the need for IS barriers and isolators. The modules feature advanced diagnostics that provide real-time status and feedback for quicker and easier troubleshooting. The 1797 modules have reduced wiring, reduced hardware footprints, and reduced costs. They help to improve system reliability and minimize downtime with optional N+1 power supply redundancy. Allen-Bradley offers a 12-months warranty starting from the date of installation. All of the 1797 series modules come with electronic protection including lead break, overload, and short circuit protection.
