The 1791DS-IB4XOW4 is an Allen-Bradley manufactured safety module that is part of the Guard I/O DeviceNet safety modules. This module is mainly used to implement a safety-control network system that adheres up to Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 requirements. The major parts of the 1791DS-IB4XOW4 include a node address switch located on the upper left section of the module; An array of LED status indicators for local reporting of the modules operational state and input and output channel activities; Safety relay; I/O connection terminals located on the lower part of the module and a Phoenix communication connector that enables connection to DeviceNet network. The 1791DS-IB4XOW4 exchanges data over Remote I/O architecture via DeviceNet network that supports Common Industrial Protocol (CIP). The central safety controller that resides in the same DeviceNet network performs the necessary data processing.
