The MicroLogix Controller with part number 1761-L32BBB is a compact controller that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. Compact controllers include integrated power supply, memory, Input and Output channels, and communication ports. This internally embedded devices allow the controller to function without the need of installation of individual modules. This product is a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) that allows automation of applications in the factory or process automation areas. This controller is best installed in small scale applications.

This controller requires an enclosure to ensure protection from environment contaminants and noises. It may be installed horizontally or vertically with the use of a standard DIN Rail or through the screw mounts. The clearance required for both mounting is similar. Specifically, required clearance on all sides of the controller shall be 50.8 mm or 2 inches.

Environmental and Mechanical considerations for this device include an operating temperature of 0°C to +40°C (+32°F to +113°F), Operating shock of 9.0g peak acceleration (11 ± 1 ms duration) when panel mounted and 7.0g peak acceleration (11 ± 1 ms duration) when DIN rail mounted.

When wiring the controller, appropriate wire size includes #14 to #22 AWG for solid and #16 to #22 AWG for Stranded wires. The screw head diameter within the controller is 5.5 mm. With this, Allen-Bradley recommends the use of spade lugs with part number 53120-1 for 22-16 AWG and 53123-1 for 16-14 AWG wires. 3rd party lugs equivalent to the recommended ones may also be used. This controller has integrated memory size of 1K EEPROM memory which is capable of accommodating up to 737 instructions and 437 data words. This controller has integrated Twenty (20) discrete inputs, Ten (10) FET outputs and Two (2) Relay outputs. It operates with 24VDC supply. This controller is capable of implementing discrete control including basic logic operations, time based, counter based and other bit logic operations.

The Allen-Bradley 1761-L32BBB is a programmable controller. It is designed for power supply range of 20.4 to 26.4 Volts DC with integrated Thirty-Two (32) input and output points. This controller has a compact form and requires minimum panel space compared to other similar programmable controllers. The 1761-L32BBB controller can connect to a peer-to-peer network with its RS-232 and DH-485 ports. It can also use the DeviceNet interface (DNI) for high-speed communications. The 1761-L32BBB’s hand-held programmer (HHP) has six languages built in. This controller has an execution time of only 1.56 milliseconds and a throughput of 1.85 milliseconds for running a typical 500 instructions program. The 1761-L32BBB supports 12 basic logic instructions, 43 applied control instructions and 14 advanced application-specific instructions for a variety of functions.
