The 1762-L40AWAR is a MicroLogix 1200 controller. This is an Allen-Bradly Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) that is designed with embedded input and output channels as well as communication and programming port.
The 1762-L40AWAR feature One (1) Programming port, used exclusive for configuration and downloading of user programs. It also has One (1) communication port that may also be used as the device communication and programming interface. This port supports DH485 and DF1 communication protocols, both following serial RS232 standard. Both of the communication ports have 8-Pin mini DIN circular interface that may be used with an Allen-Bradley 1761-CBL-PM02 or custom fabricated.
The 1762-L40AWAR supports limited expansion. However, it has an embedded Twenty-Four (24) discrete inputs that supports sink / source wiring configuration and Sixteen (16) relay volt-free outputs. The outputs are contact outputs that are rated for 25-125 VDC or 120 - 240 VAC with mechanical life of 20,000,000 cycles and rated for a minimum of 10A load.
Aside from DH-485, DF1 Full and Half Duplex protocol support, the communication interface also supports Modbus Master / Slave and ASCII protocols. With MODBUS, direct integration to MODBUS capable devices such as Power Meters, Smart relays and switches may be accomplished without the need of a converter or gateway device. The ASCII protocol is used for interfacing barcode scanners which are typically used production and manufacturing industry.
This 1762-L40AWAR may be installed to enclosure that provide the adequate protection to the device, according to the installation area. This PLC must be operated within a temperature range of +0°C to +55°C. Climate control devices may also be installed to maintain the designed operating temperature.
