The Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1200 PLCs are PLCs designed to take up as little space in the control cabinet as possible while having enough inputs and outputs to cover standard-scale industrial applications. The MicroLogix 1200 controllers are available in 24-point and 40-point versions, and if more I/Os are required, modules this system can be upgraded to operate with 136 I/Os and rackless I/O. In accordance with customer needs, there are versions of this PLC powered by 120 to 240 Volts AC and versions powered by 24 Volts DC. The digital inputs can also operate with 120 Volts AC and 24 Volts DC, while digital outputs can be relay, 24 Volts DC FET, and high-speed 24 Volts DC FET relays. The 20 kHz PulseTrain output or PWM output are useful options that allow the inexpensive MicroLogix 1200 PLCs to control servo motors and step motors.
The Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1200 PLCs also have full ASCII (read/write) capabilities which enable it to be connected to checkers, barcode readers, printers, and scales. It is compatible with the SLC 500 instruction set and it is easily programmed with the RSLogix 500 software. The innovative Allen-Bradley technology implemented in the MicroLogix 1200 PLC series devices is a field-upgradeable flash operating system that allows the users to quickly load new options created by Allen-Bradley on newer versions of the device. Regarding communication ports, the devices have RS-232/RS-485 combo ports that provide access points for computers and serial communication over an industrial network. The units are also equipped with 2 trim potentiometers with a digital output range of 0 to 250.
