1771-ALX

The 1771-ALX is an Allen-Bradley Local I/O adapter module. This module is part of the PLC-5 system that is used to extend the I/O capability of the PLC-5 system and provide a safe and practical method of disconnecting I/O modules from the bus without disrupting the backplane connection. The 1771-ALX is installed to any Series A and B chassis of any slot, and compatible for use with any 1771 external or slot power supplies. It has One (1) I/O adapter port where the interconnect cable with catalog numbers 1771-CX1 (1 meter); 1771-CX2 (2 meters) and 1771-CX5 (5 meters) may be connected. The 1771-ALX’ maximum allowable chassis distance is 30 cable-meters or 98.4 cable-feet. The 1771-ALX is installed to the leftmost slot of the 1771 I/O chassis. It has a backplane current draw of 1.2 A @ 5VDC with compatible keying of between 54 and 56 for upper connector and between 4 and 6 for lower connector. A cable terminator is needed to be installed at the last module to determine the end of the expansion. This terminator plug has a part number of 1771-CXT. The 1771-ALX has power dissipation of 6.3 Watts, maximum and 5.7 Watts, minimum while the thermal dissipation is 21.48 BTU/hr, maximum and 19.44 BTU/hr, minimum. It must be installed at an environment with temperature range of 0 to 60 oC (32 to 140 oF) and stored at -40 to 85 oC (-40 to 185 oF) with relative humidity of 5-95%, non-condensing. During installation, power to the backplane must be removed to avoid damage to the module and nearby components.

The 1771-ALX PLC 5 Local I/O Adapter Module by Allen-Bradley is an I/O chassis module which allows for disconnection of the rack from the BUS without disrupting or shutting down the entire system. The module is located on the leftmost I/O slot of the 1771 I/O chassis and it has a 30m maximum cable length for connection-to-system which can be a combination of 1m (1771-CX1), 2m (1771-CX2), or 5m (1771-CX5) cables. It has a 1771-CXT terminator plug for termination of the 1771-ALX PLC 5 Local I/O Adapter Module on the BUS with the PLC 5 Programmable Controller and when operational, the adapter module dissipates 6.3W maximum heats and 21.48 BTU/hr thermal dissipation. The module draws a backplane current of 1.2A at 5V DC and is designed to function without de-rating at a temperature range between 0 and 60 0C (32 and 140 0F) at a relative humidity range of 5-95% without condensation. The 1771-ALX has 3 LED light indicators which show the status and also allows users to troubleshoot the module.
