The Allen-Bradley 1771-IL is a PLC5 isolated analog input module that is compatible for installation with any 1771 I/O chassis. This module has Eight (8) fully isolated differential input channels configurable for Voltage and Current signal ranges such as 1 to 5V dc, 0 to 5V dc, -5 to +5V, -10 to +10V dc, 0 to 10V dc, 4 to 20mA, 0 to 20mA, and -20 to +20mA. This module is used with Block transfer instructions such as BTW and BTR for sending and receiving analog data and instructions.

The Allen-Bradley 1771-IL is an analog input module with Eight (8) fully isolated differential input channels. This module belongs to the legacy PLC5 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platform that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This module is compatible for use with instruments that provides voltage and current signals. Specifically, signal range supported by this controller are 1 to 5V dc, 0 to 5V dc, -5 to +5V, -10 to +10V dc, 0 to 10V dc, for Voltage and 4 to 20mA, 0 to 20mA, and -20 to +20mA for Current signals.
Once an analog input signal is received, the 1771-IL converts the signal to 0000 to +409510 for unipolar ranges (0 to 5V, +1 to +5V, 0 to +20mA, and +4 to +20mA) and -409510 to 409510 for bipolar ranges +5V, +10V, +20mA input ranges. Unipolar refers to a value where counting start at Zero (0). Bipolar refers to a value wherein the maximum positive number has a negative complement. Basically, a unipolar number has no sign while a bipolar number has a sign. This module features 16-bit binary over full range resolution.
The Typical accuracy for Voltage is - 0.01% of full-scale range @ 25 Deg. Celsius while Maximum resolution is 0.05% of full-scale range @ 25 Deg. Celsius. For Current, Typical resolution is 0.06% of full- scale range @ 25 Deg. Celsius while the Maximum resolution is 0.1% of full scale range @ 25oC (Includes 0.05% when using internal current resistor)
The 1771-IL has an integral open circuit detection, Input overvoltage protection and an Auto-Calibration capability.
