|

The Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation 1771-IYC input module is an expander input module. It can be used to add 6 input channels to an existing control system or input module. The 1771-IYC 6-channel expander input module is part of the Allen-Bradley PLC 5 series. This input module supports thermocouple inputs. The 1771-IYC expander input module uses block transfer programming to transfer the input data words from its memory to the data table of the PLC processor that it is working with, and to transfer configuration words from the data table back to its memory.

The Allen-Bradley 1771-IYC is a PLC 5 thermocouple input expander module. It increases the thermocouple input range for the analog input module. The analog input module transfers input data words from its memory to the PLC processor’s data table and transfers back configuration words using block transfer programming. The 1771-IYC requires a single-slot for installation in a 1771 I/O chassis and needs no external power supply. The 1771-IYC module has 8 floating differential inputs for thermocouple input ranges which includes types B, E, J, K, T, R, and S thermocouples. It requires a backplane current load of 750mA at 5V and has a channel update time of 25ms per 8 channels. Its wiring is connected to the 1771-WI field wiring arm, eliminating the need for disconnecting the wires when replacing the module. The 1771-IYC has a maximum power dissipation of 4.25W and maximum thermal dissipation of 14.5 BTU/hr. Keying bands must be put between pins 20-22 and pins 24-26 to accept this module. The 1771-IYC module has high and low-temperature alarms that are selectable by the user. It performs self-diagnostics at power-up and reports status. It provides open circuit detection in case of thermocouple failure. The 1771-IYC eliminates the need for potentiometers by automatically calibrating offset and gain for each channel. It is intended for a clean and dry industrial environment with a 0 - 55 °C (32 - 131 °F) operating temperature, 30g operating shock, and a 5 - 95% noncondensing relative humidity.
