1771-KF

The Allen-Bradley 1771-KF PLC 5 Data Highway Communication Controller Module is an electronic device which links (either point-to-point or multi-drop link) intelligent RS-232 devices to a data highway. It is a stand-alone mounting module which uses a power source (1771-P2) with an electrical rating of 1.2A at 5V DC. It has a data highway and an RS-232-C communication port, used for connecting devices with RS-232-C capability to the data highway. The 1771-KF links RS-232-C devices through the point-to-point or the multi-drop configuration, and in the point-to-point configuration, the module links only a single RS-232-C device through a peer-to-peer or master-to-slave link to the data highway. Using the multi-drop configuration, the module connects multiple data highways through a set of modules.

The 1771-KF has a recommended Data Highway communication speed of 57,600 bits per second and has a switch selectable RS-232-C communication rate from 110-19,200 bits per second. The module uses 3 specialized cables for linking the data highway drop line cable (1770-CD), the data terminal interface cable, or the modem interface cable (1770-CP). The 1771-KF has an operating temperature range of 0-60 oC (32-140 oF) at an ambient relative humidity of 5-95% without condensation, and if it is not in use, it should be stored at a temperature between -40 and 85 oC (-40 and 185 o F).
