1771-OZ

The Allen-Bradley 1771-OZ module is a digital output module for Allen-Bradley PLC-5 systems. The module supports 8 normally-open outputs. A status indicator for each of the relay outputs provides control status updates. Each indicator switches on when the corresponding relay is energized. The 1771-OZ module can be installed in an empty slot of the 1771 I/O chassis. The module is rated for a maximum of 30 VA at 138 Volts AC per output and for a maximum of 20 VA at 125 Volts DC per output. The module voltage range is 0 to 24 Volts AC RMS and 0 to 24 Volts DC. The maximum current rating is 100 milliamps per output. For DC output, the power rating is 2.4 Watts per output and for AC outputs the power rating is 2.4 Watts per output. The minimum contact load for DC output is 1 milliamp at 0 to 24 Volts and for AC output, it is 1 milliamp for 0 to 24 Volts. The maximum operate and release time is 1 millisecond. The maximum bounce time is 1 millisecond. The maximum switching frequency is 10 Hertz. The maximum backplane current for the Allen-Bradley 1771-OZ module is 420 milliamps. The minimum and maximum thermal dissipation ratings are 6.9 BTU per hour and 7.6 BTU per hour, respectively. The minimum and maximum power dissipation ratings are 2 Watts and 2.2 Watts, respectively. The module provides 1000 Volts of isolation voltage between the open contacts and 1500 Volts of isolation voltage between the coil and the contact. The recommended wire size for use with the module is the AWG 14 wire. The operating temperature for the 1771-OZ module is from 0 to 60 degrees Celsius.

The Allen-Bradley 1771-OZ is a relay output module that is part of the 1771 PLC-5 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) product family. This module is designed with eight (8) Normally Open (N.O.) or Form A Contact outputs. Each output of the module has a contact rating of 30 Volt-amperes at 138 Volts AC and 20 Volt-amperes at 125 Volts DC.

The 1771-OZ output module occupies a single slot chassis. Compatible chassis for use with this module includes Series A or B 1771-A1B, 1771-A2B, 1771-A3B, 1771-A3B1, 1771-A4B universal I/O chassis, and 1771-AM1 or 1771-AM2 I/O chassis. It can be installed to any available slot of the module and in local and remote I/O racks. Additionally, it can be used in different rack addressing format supported by the installed processor and host adapter.

The 1771-OZ requires use of the 1771-WD wiring arm for termination of signal wires. Appropriate wire size for use is a maximum of 14 Gauge stranded wire with a maximum insulation thickness of 3/64. For monitoring of the module’s operation, the 1771-OZ is provided with individual status indicators for each channel of the module to indicate channel energization states.

Special consideration applies to this module, specifically, during power-up and power off of an I/O rack, the output channels of the 1771-OZ may momentarily change operating state which is due to the “soft-start” behavior of a PLC-5 power supply. Series A and B 1771-OZ modules are affected by this feature; however, later release or higher series are not affected by this action of power supply.
