The Allen-Bradley 1771-PCB, also referred to as the PC bridge (PCB) software package, is used for program development. It is a programming or user interface compatible with 1771 Control Coprocessors. It operates on DOS-based computers and supports both online and offline user activities. The 1771-PCB is used for downloading and uploading files and executable modules to or from the control coprocessor. It also enables the user to initiate and terminate tasks using the OS9 operating system command-line interface. The 1771-PCB PCBridge Software Package is used to communicate with the control processor and develop C and assembler programs. Online programs such as SrcDbg (source-level debugger for C programs) and basic (BASIC language environment) can be accessed. These source files written in C or assembler can be compiled and assembled; multiple sources can also be linked. For ASCII terminal emulation, BASIC programs can be developed and edited on the control coprocessor. This allows a computer to serve as a console device. The 1771-PCB provides a platform where the programming terminal can be used to initialize and configure the coprocessor and Ethernet port and perform program debugging. The 1771-PCB comes supplied with an Internet socket library for programming client/server applications for an Ethernet port. Plus, it offers a downloadable driver that provides INTERCHANGE server functionality. This supplies Ethernet connectivity when the coprocessor is combined with a standard PLC5 Processor.
